Spring Forest Qigong
Five Elements Self-Healing
Frequently Asked Questions
What is this
course about?
Spring Forest Qigong Five
Elements Self-Healing is a series of simple Healing Movements and powerful
Meditations that help you awaken the intelligence of your physical body and the
power of your heart to experience greater health and well-being in all aspects
of your life.
You’ll activate the
power you naturally possess to help yourself heal using a specific set of five movements—and
five positive emotions—that support the five major organ systems in the body.
Through your daily practice of movement and meditation, you’ll rebalance your “Qi”
energy at every level, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
How is Five Elements
Self-Healing different from the Spring Forest Qigong personal
learning course published by Learning Strategies in 2000?
Chunyi Lin’s continued
lifelong study of Qigong has only expanded the depth of his understanding and
wisdom of Qigong and its effectiveness for helping the body to heal. Through
the years he has continued to develop and refine the processes he teaches to students
and healers and uses with his own clients in his healing practice.
In Five Elements
Self-Healing, you’ll enjoy a fully immersive experience with Chunyi Lin as
you explore the power of Spring Forest Qigong. In a sequence of video sessions,
you will not just be practicing the movements; you will be learning as Chunyi
Lin shares his wisdom for why Qigong works and how you can gain the most
benefit from your daily practice. It’s like being with him as he teaches during
his popular retreats.
Are the exercises
of Five Elements Self-Healing the same as those in the earlier course?
Two of the five primary
Healing Movements are the same: “Moving of Yin & Yang” and “Breathing of
the Universe.” Three are new: “Connecting with Heaven & Earth,” “Connecting
with Your Body’s Energy,” and “Connecting with Your Heart’s Energy.”
While you can continue
using the original movements, Chunyi recommends shifting to the new ones. They
are easier to do, and they are more effective in helping the body heal and for
moving your energy level to a higher frequency.
Are the Meditations
in Five Elements Self-Healing the same as those in the earlier course?
There are three powerful
Meditations, instead of two, to enhance your practice and support self-healing.
The Small Universe
meditation, Chunyi’s foundational meditation for opening blockages in the main
energy channels of the body, is the same. Though in this course you’ll learn
more about why it’s so important for your vitality and healing.
The Deep Healing
meditation is like the original Self-Concentration meditation, but on
steroids. The meditation has been enhanced in unique ways to develop and
strengthen your awareness and understanding of your natural ability to help
yourself heal.
The new Five Positive
Emotions meditation helps you experience the flow of positive emotions—happiness,
joy, peace, contentment, and gratitude—at a deeper level. You’ll learn how to quickly
switch from one emotion to the next so you can enjoy greater energetic balance
and harmony in your daily life.
What is the difference
between the Foundations (Main) course and the Deep Healing (Deluxe) course?
The Foundations course
contains all that you need to practice Spring Forest Qigong personally. You
will also learn the basics to break up blockages in other people and give them
energy. The Deep Healing course includes everything in the Main course, plus
you will gain in-depth learning and insights to advance your understanding of
Qigong, deepen your practice, and heal more completely.
What are the
exact contents of the course?
Content for both the
Deluxe and Main courses is listed at the right side of this page.
You’ll find order
information here:
https://www.learningstrategies.com/qigong/order
How long is
the course?
The video Introduction
is approximately 40 minutes. The Main course has 10 video Practice Sessions,
each 30-minutes long. The Deluxe course has 8 additional video Practice
Sessions, each 30-minutes long
Each video session
features the same Healing Movements. Simply practice along with Chunyi Lin as
you absorb his teaching.
Chunyi recommends you
follow the 100-day sequence of practice on the Daily Practice Charts included
in your 102-page manual. There’s one chart for the Foundations series and
another for the Deep Healing series. You’ll simply follow along as indicated on
the chart for the version you are doing.
You will be doing the
various teaching sessions multiple times because learning comes best in layers.
You’ll never have to worry about getting it all the first time, because you
will eagerly go through the sessions again and again.
When you finish the
course, you’ll want to continue practicing the Healing Movements, but without the
teachings. You can use the Practice-Only video and audio sessions to continue
your practice.
(Audio-only versions of all the 30-minute
Practice Sessions can be found in your online Library, if you prefer to not use
the video.)
As you practice with
Chunyi, you’ll learn how and when to use your Meditations.
How much
time is recommended to complete the course?
For best results, we
recommend you put time in your schedule right now to do the course every day
for 100 days. If you miss a day, simply pick up where you left off the next
day.
Treat these as important
appointments and do not change them because something else has come up. Building a regular
practice of Spring Forest Qigong can transform your life as you awaken and
activate the healing power within you.
How much
should I practice?
Practice the Healing Movements
and Meditations in the spirit of “good, better, and best.” If you practice now
and then, that is good. You will benefit. If you practice at least 5 minutes every
day, that is better. You will benefit from Spring Forest Qigong more. If you do
a complete 30-minute practice every day, that is the best.
What if I am in a
wheelchair? What if my legs don't move, or my arms, can I still do Qigong?
You can practice Spring
Forest Qigong standing, sitting, or lying down. If you cannot do any movement
or any part of a movement, Chunyi says you can do that movement in your mind.
Can I listen
while driving or exercising?
You may listen to the audio
version of the Introduction session while driving, however, do not listen to the
Meditations or Practice Sessions while driving.
This course is designed
to be interactive. As you do the recommended processes along with Chunyi Lin on
the video, you will put yourself into deeply relaxed, meditative state so you
can feel and experience the Qi energy in your body.
How quickly
will I see results?
You will begin noticing
subtle shifts as soon as you begin the course. As you apply what you learn, and
depending on what is going on in your life, you'll see increasingly more
noticeable results.
I am under
doctor's care. Should I tell my doctor that I am practicing Qigong?
Yes. And consult with
your physician or other licensed health care practitioner before changing or
discontinuing any current treatment. Qigong should be used as a complementary
practice for medical care—not as a replacement.
When you
have no health concerns
Professional
Entertainers "Tom" and "Beth," who wanted to share their
story and remain anonymous, began practicing Spring Forest Qigong even though
they had no major health concerns.
“We didn't have lumps,
cancer, or heart problems, but we wanted to see how Qigong could work on health
annoyances,” said Tom. They were impressed at the results after just a few
weeks.
“I injured my little
finger years ago, and I often strain it when doing minor things such as washing
my hands. Since I've been practicing Qigong, I can wash my hands vigorously. I
don't have to baby the finger, and I haven't had any surprise ‘ouches!’”
“My wife has been able
to cut her allergy medicine in half. And, it has only been two or three weeks!”
They were hired by a
major U.S. corporation to create a “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” spoof for a
convention. “It was last minute, so we got the big bucks,” said Tom, who played
Regis Philbin. “My wife and I noticed that neither of us had the stress that
normally accompanies rushed events. We can only attribute it to our Qigong
practice,” he said.
“Stress had always been
an issue. Once the stress was so bad that my wife was hospitalized. I don't
think that will happen again!”
He called us to share
their story because there are a lot of people out there without major health
concerns who could benefit from Spring Forest Qigong.
His final answer? “Get
the course. You might be surprised!”
Is Qigong
like yoga? Tai Chi? What's the difference?
The movements of Spring
Forest Qigong are similar to Tai Chi movements. However, the big difference is
that Spring Forest Qigong is specifically designed to help open energy
blockages and balance Qi in your body for improved health and well-being.
Does this
take the place of my yoga or Tai Chi? Can I do both?
You can decide whether
to continue practicing your other disciplines. Chunyi says it is best not to
practice Spring Forest Qigong during the same time of day as your other
practice. If you practice one in the morning, practice the other in the
afternoon or evening. If you need to do them during the same time of day, give
yourself at least a 20-minute break between practice sessions.
Is the
course good for children? Is there a minimum age?
Participants should be
at least 12 years old.
What is a Paraliminal
learning session?
Paraliminals are easy
and relaxing personal development tools that work with your nonconscious mind
to help you achieve a specific result. Two Paraliminal sessions are included in
your course: Consistent Practice and Faith & Confidence.
They are designed
to enhance your ability to apply the Qi energy more consistently and
effectively in your daily life. They were created by Chunyi Lin and Paraliminal
developer Paul R. Scheele, PhD. Simply listen with a clear intention as suggested
with each Paraliminal.
